Social Purpose (Giving Back)

We care about our community. Each of us dietitians have dedicated our lives to supporting people to be healthy. We want us all to be healthy. As health professionals, we know that the scientific research shows that the social determinants of health are the primary factors driving people’s health. That’s why we choose to give a hand up, rather than a handout. Because supporting meaningful financial change in people’s lives, supports their health.

Kristen volunteers her time with the local chapter of Soroptomist International, a global volunteer organization that provides women
and girls with access to the education and training they need to achieve economic empowerment. She also gives back to the dietitian community as Co-Chair of the Consulting Dietitians Network of Dietitians of Canada.

We also provide nutrition presentations to community organizations, such as the James Bay Community Project and the local chapter of Soroptomist International on a pro bono basis. Note: We’re currently at capacity for pro bono work.

Here’s how we contribute to our community’s health:

  • We pay our dietitians and support team a professional wage.

  • We prioritize supporting Canadian businesses owned by those who have been traditionally under-represented, such as women and people of colour. Examples include our virtual assistant, bookkeeper, lawyer, printing and office supplies.

  • We do our banking with a credit union who is committed to investing in our community.

It’s not charity. It’s a commitment to embedding social purpose into our Agency.
