Introducing Solids, Picky Kids, and Teen Nutrition Workshops


Introducing Solid Foods (4 – 6 months)

This is Baby Food 101. We’ll cover what age to start food, the best foods to start with, purees or baby led weaning (finger foods) – which is best, choking and gagging, preventing food allergies. Wednesday November 1st, 12noon-2pm. South Community Birth Program, Vancouver, BC. Drop-in.  

Picky Eating Solutions (2 – 5 years)

Trying to get toddlers or preschoolers to eat new foods? Worried that your 2-5 year old isn’t getting the nutrition they need? Child-Feeding Expert Kristen Yarker, MSc, RD will share picky eating solutions that actually work (without being forceful or sneaky). Also, discover what common strategies inadvertently undermine kids’ well-being. Thursday November 2nd, 6:30-8:30pm. Private workshop for members of Vancouver Society of Children’s Centres, Vancouver, BC. 

Delicious, Healthy Eating on a Budget (Teens)

Cut through the nutrition confusion. Find out what to eat to be healthy. How to do it on a budget. And, practical ways to fit healthy eating in your life – whether you’re the next top chef, or a beginner in the kitchen. November 1st, 5:00-7:00pm. Private workshop for Aunt Leah’s Place clients, New Westminster, BC.

Eating for Performance (Youth)

Top sports performance requires the right nutrition. This workshop covers the foods you need, timing, and hydration. Part 2 covers how to make it happen when on the road. November 4th and 5th. Private workshops for SwimBC members, Duncan, BC.
